Columbia / Eldridge
Average Selling Price $179,000
The Columbia Neighborhood includes some of the most historic and well-established residential areas in the city. Nine out of ten of the single family homes are over 20 years old. Many date back to the early 1900's, and some even earlier. Development in this area dates back to the 1880's, when small homes in the northern areas of the neighborhood were built for coal miners. Beautiful Elizabeth Park reveals many fine classic homes proudly displaying their historic markers.
Most lots are 5,000 square feet (one house per lot), though some homes along Squalicum Creek to the west enjoy larger green spaces, and more recently developed areas north of Connecticut Street cluster around wider streets. Lots along Victor and Lynn Streets are also somewhat larger, as well as along the northern boundaries of the neighborhood.
Besides Elizabeth Park, smaller parks sprinkled throughout the neighborhood include Carl Strobe park, Lorraine Ellis, Gibson and Peabody Plaza. Columbia Elementary is near the neighborhood's center.
