Alabama Street divides the Roosevelt Neighborhood, which can best be described in one word: diverse. From well-tended single-family homes to duplexes and apartments, commercial to light industrial, this neighborhood has a little bit of everything. It's bounded by Sunset Drive, E. Illinois and the Railroad Trail on the north, I-5 on the west, Whatcom Creek on the south, and Huron and Michigan Streets on the east.

Many of the homes in the northern reaches of this neighborhood feature nice views of Bellingham Bay due to that area's gentle slope. The styles and prices of homes vary greatly. Most of the most recent residential development has centered around multi-family units. Local residents enjoy Roosevelt Park and the Pacific Trails Park, as well as Whatcom Falls Park on the neighborhood's southeast border and the scenic Railroad Trail.
